March 21st is a day that will go down in history as the day the government takeover of our health-care system was approved in the House of Representatives. Barack Obama began his next major move to radically remake America – starting millions of illegal aliens on the path to amnesty and citizenship.

While the House was voting on Obama Care, tens of thousands of illegal aliens and their supporters rallied in Washington, D.C. Addressing them by videotape, the president declared, “I have always pledged to be your partner as we work to fix our broken immigration system, and that’s a commitment I reaffirm today.”

The system “broke” when Washington stopped enforcing our immigration laws and winked at millions of illegals that streamed across our borders every year. Now, the president would “fix” the problem by granting millions of border-jumpers into citizens who doubtless will return the favor by becoming Democratic voters.

Obama is supporting legislation drafted by Senators Charles Schumer and Lindsey Graham, which would allow illegals to confess their sin of violating our laws, and pay a fine (at least in theory). In return, they would be amnestied and (eventually) granted citizenship.

Even though the president and his congressional allies know that such a move is wildly unpopular with the American people, they also believe it’s a step they must take to maintain power this year and beyond.

The public has turned against Obama and his party with a vengeance. According to a Rasmussen poll taken on the eve of the House health care vote, only 26% of Americans strongly approve of the president’s performance, while 42% strongly disapprove. Though 41% approve of the president’s plan to socialize our health care system, 54% oppose the measure.

The left is desperately in need of new voters who will march in lockstep to the drumbeat of big government. That’s why they’re eager to legalize an estimated 11 million illegal aliens (8 million of them potential voters), bestow citizenship on them and get them to the polls.

Eliseo Medina, executive vice president of the giant Service Employees International Union – one of Obama’s most steadfast supporters — let the cat out of the bag.

Speaking at a Washington, D.C. conference in June of last year, Medina noted that Latinos and “immigrants” voted overwhelmingly for Obama and “progressive candidates” (code language for socialists) in 2008.

The union boss then asked rhetorically: “Can you imagine if we have – even the same ratio, two out of three – can you imagine 8 million new voters who care about our issues and will be voting? We will be creating a governing coalition for the long-term, not just for an election cycle.”

Translation: Imagine 8 million new voters who are completely ignorant of American history and the responsibilities of citizenship – who don’t know the Constitution from an enchilada?

Imagine 8 million new voters who are interested exclusively in more welfare and new entitlement programs – who will avidly applaud liberal promises to transfer wealth from producers to non-producers? Imagine an army of new voters who won’t analyze candidates and issues but will robotically pull the Democratic lever?

Spread across the United States, these new voters would keep the left in power in perpetuity.

When the majority of Americans get up every morning asking what can the government do for me today, freedom and free enterprise is over. This next battle over immigration is nothing less, and this time around, the tables have been turned. For the first time, many conservative evangelical leaders are asserting a completely misguided view of Christian compassion that glosses over the sin of illegally breaking into a country and urging their people to forgive and forget. The consequences of such cannot be calculated, but I assure you that in the end, the free America which attracted so many to cross our borders without proper documentation, will disappear and soon America will be no different than the impoverished country they left.

This must not be allowed to happen. SELECT HERE to send a fax to every member of Congress demanding that they oppose the coming push for amnesty as the desperate power play of a Washington elite prepared to stage a coup against democracy and the American people.
