Rape A Child? No Big Deal…

Rick Scarborough

More than thirty years ago renowned movie director Roman Polanski pleaded guilty to having sex with a thirteen-year-old girl after drugging her with champagne and sedatives. On the eve of sentencing he fled to France and has lived in Europe as a fugitive since then. He continued making movies, even winning an academy award.

On September 26 he was finally arrested in Switzerland where he was visiting, amazingly, in order to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award and he is currently in a Swiss prison. U.S. authorities are working to have him extradited.

Hollywood is staying true to form by rushing to his defense. Peter Fonda said, “International authorities have better things to focus on than catching Roman Polanski.” Film producer Harvey Weinstein has even gone so far as to call it a “miscarriage of justice.”

Other directors including Martin Scorcese, David Lynch and Woody Allen, who is living with his ex-wife’s daughter, are among dozens in the film industry who are signing a petition that calls for the immediate release of Polanski.

Roman Polanski raped a child. No one, including himself, disputes that fact. For Hollywood to be defending him is deplorable. Freedom is a bi-product of the law. When man becomes lawless, tyranny ensues.

I recently heard it put this way and I fully agree, “the decadence of America is being fed by the moral reprobates in Hollywood…the cesspool artery mainlined into every home in America. The mark of a decadent society is the exaltation and normalization of sin.

There is an upside: repentance. God tells us in II Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear, I will forgive them and I will restore their land.” Please join me in standing for the cause of righteousness and praying for our nation to come to repentance.
