S.C. MOVES TOWARDS MANDATING ULTRASOUNDS FOR ABORTION
South Carolina is on its way to becoming the first state to require
women contemplating an abortion to view ultrasound images of their
unborn children. The move is both far-sighted and compassionate.
Legislation for mandatory ultrasounds passed the South Carolina House
by a 91-23 vote. Prospects are excellent in the Senate, and pro-life
Governor Mark Sanford is poised to sign the bill, if it lands on his
desk.
Many crisis-pregnancy centers are equipped with this technology. They
report that anywhere from 62% to 95% of clients change their minds
about having an abortion after seeing these moving images of life in
the womb.

courageous stand and to thank the speaker of the South Carolina House,

BIO. TEACHER FIRED FOR CHALLENGING CHURCH OF DARWIN
As we've noted before in The Rick Scarborough Report, the public
schools have become a forum for propagating the beliefs of
America's established religion - secular humanism.
A chilling illustration of this was provided by the firing of a
high-school biology teacher.
Last week, the school board of Sisters, Oregon fired part-time biology
teacher Kris Helphinstine for offering students an alternative to
Darwinian dogma.

UPDATE: GERMAN HOME-SCHOOLED CHILD IN FOSTER CARE PLEADS TO RETURN TO HER FAMILY
A 15-year-old German girl who was placed in foster care (after being
sent to a psychiatric hospital) because her family home-schools, has
written an impassioned plea to be returned to her family.
Melissa Busekros was taken out of her family's home six weeks
ago by an official with the local Youth Welfare Office, who was
accompanied by 15 policemen. They obviously think that home-schoolers
are dangerous!
As Wolfgang Drautz (counsel general for the Federal Republic of
Germany) put it, the German state, "has a legitimate interest in
countering the rise of parallel societies that are based on religion
or motivated by different world views."
In other words, the German government doesn't want parents
exposing their children to ideas which contradict public-school
indoctrination.
Could America attempt to outlaw home-schooling in the future? At least
two federal courts have held the public schools have an absolute right
to teach students whatever they wish. Wake up America! Germany is a
case study of where secularism would like to take us.

VISION AMERICA MINISTRY REPORT
On Tuesday evening, I debated Barry Lynn, the executive director of
Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, on the
University of Texas at Austin campus.
The entire debate was video-taped and will soon be available on our
website. Thank you for praying for me. I felt quite comfortable
representing our values in this challenging setting.
Plans continue to move forward on our effort to launch 70 Weeks to
Save America, featuring Ambassador Alan Keyes, former Naval Chaplain
Gordon Klingenschmidt and myself. We have already secured a number of
venues for Crusades and hope to have all 70 booked by June 15. If you
would like to host one of these crusades, click here and someone will
call you to discuss what this entails.
