The War on Christians and the Values Voter in 2006
Vision America presents an important conference in our nation's capitol with featured speakers including:
Senator Sam Brownback, Senator John Cornyn, Congressman Tom DeLay, Congressman Todd Akin, Congressman Louis Gohmert, Rod Parsley, Ron Luce, Gary Bauer, Alan Keyes, Phyllis Schlafly, Laurence White, and Janet Folger
You will also enjoy challenging panel discussions, prime accommodations, special packages, legislative briefings, and more.
There is a Values Voters’ Contract with Congress and we need your signature and help.
In November 2005, the leaders of 40 major conservative organizations met in Washington, D.C. to discuss the disturbing trends in America that are seriously eroding the principles established by our founding fathers and espoused in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a group dubbed the “Servant Committee” (consisting of Janet Folger, Alan Keyes, Andrea Lafferty, Manny Miranda, Connie Mackey, Phyllis Schlafly, Aryeh Spero, Mike Valerio, Phillip Jauregui and myself) was charged with developing a strategy for a collective effort to address these issues, including a plan to mobilize people of faith.
The Servant Committee developed a unique approach, the Values Voters’ Contract with Congress: A Declaration of American Renewal. This Contract addresses a number of issues facing America and proposes solutions that flow from the American values that we receive from our Creator and are recognized in our Declaration of Independence. The Preamble to the full version was written by Alan Keyes and is a beautiful and profound statement of our present situation.
You are a values voter and one of the keys to the continued success of the values voters will be our ability to join forces on common action items. I believe that now is the time to join forces and promote this common Contract.
In America, we do not create our own values. Rather, we recognize that we are endowed by our Creator with value and as our Declaration of Independence makes clear, we get our American values from Him. Today, we renew our commitment to Him and re-affirm the values that He gave to us. The Values Voters’ Contract with Congress applies these American values to the great issues of our day. Moreover, we recognize that in order to touch the lives of the people affected by these issues we must propose practical solutions that can be enacted by our elected leaders.
In order for this common cause to succeed it will require the participation of values voters like you. So please sign on today and ask your friends to join you!
We have been praying for renewal to sweep this land and for this renewal to come through the judiciary. Well, this week we received encouraging news. The Supreme Court voted unanimously to prohibit racketeering laws from being mis-used to persecute pro-life advocates.
For several decades now federal laws that were meant to stop organized crime and the mob have been mis-used against peaceful pro-life Americans that have chosen to exercise their freedom of speech at abortion clinics. The Supreme Court seemed to resolve this issue back in 2003 but lower federal courts continued to entertain this mis-use of federal law.
Finally, the Supreme Court has put an end to this persecution. This is truly a great victory and should encourage us to continue praying for God to grant us renewal in America through the judiciary.
Interim Results from our Judicial Impeachment Campaign
Despite this week's ruling from the Supreme Court, judicial activism remains a huge and ongoing problem. In the past three weeks, I have talked about the need for judicial accountability and asked you to help keep judges accountable by voting on which activist judge should be impeached first.
For review, we know several things. First, judicial activism has reached a crisis stage. Second, confirming better judges is an incomplete remedy for this crisis. Third, judicial accountability is essential to remedying this crisis. And fourth, the accountability method of impeachment is consistent with our constitution, our history, and the views of a majority of Americans.
Toward that end we have asked you to vote on which activist judge should be impeached first. Here are the interim results:
