The ACLU Full Employment Act

Buried down deep in the monstrous and pork-loaded “spendulous” bill (S. 336), which is currently under debate in the Senate, are several paragraphs that are especially notable. To put it simply, Christianity is being targeted for discrimination. The subtle but offensive paragraphs can be found in Section 803, page 164, of the bill, under the heading “Prohibited Use of Funds.” Colleges and universities are the focus of this part of the bill.
The section of S. 336 reads as follows:
No funds awarded under this section may be used for…
(C) modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities –
(i) used for sectarian instruction, religious worship, or a school or department of divinity; or
***If a school allows its buildings to be used for any religious activities, they will not be eligible for the grants that are being offered through the stimulus package.
(ii) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission; or
***The language is purposefully vague regarding “substantial,” leaving any university that receives funds to modernize their facilities (i.e., bring them up to “green” standards) open to lawsuits.
(D) construction of new facilities.
It is clear that the intended effect of this portion of the bill is two-fold. First, it discriminates against and minimizes the practice of religion. Second, it attempts to keep religious institutions from being the beneficiaries of federal dollars, even if they are using the money to make their facilities more energy efficient and environment-friendly.
The radical secularists in America are using the power of the Federal government to confiscate the funds of both Christians and non-Christians and use them to force compliance with their anti-Christ agenda. Cash-strapped universities will have to either stop allowing such groups as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Campus Crusade for Christ use of their facilities or pass up the billions of dollars available for modernizing or repairing their facilities. These new regulations will be a goldmine for such groups as the ACLU.
We chose to call this latest revelation “The ACLU Full Employment Act.” If left unchallenged, it will give the ACLU grounds to investigate and route out any activities on secular campuses that they deem “religious,” such as Bible Studies or Christian clubs, and enforce the establishments to comply with the legislation by filing lawsuits against them if they refuse.
Republican Senator Jim DeMint has offered an amendment (Sec. 807) to the bill that would eliminate funding prohibition against institutions of higher learning that use their facilities for religious purposes.
